HOSTING A BIG GAME PARTY ON A LITTLE BUDGET

January 20, 2016

When you have a limited budget, it may be difficult to find the funds to host that Super Bowl Game Party that you’ve been looking forward to.

However, regardless of how strapped for cash you find yourself, there are ways and means of hosting your party on a shoestring budget. It just takes a little creativity and some effective planning.

No doubt your friends may be looking forward to your party as much as you are. Who doesn’t love a good party?

Food and drinks usually make up the bulk of any party budget. You may cut your party expenses significantly by asking your guests to bring their favorite drink. Alternatively, you may opt to foot the bill for the drinks yourself and ask your guests to take along a party dish.  A great website to find some tasty and affordable party food ideas is Yummly. In order to avoid ending up with too much of one type of party dish, consider asking your guests to take along specific dishes.

Another way to save money for your SuperBowl party is to purchase your non-perishable party supplies well ahead of time whenever those items may be on sale or whenever you can get bulk discounts. Since the SuperBowl is normally held in February, you may begin to purchase your party items before Christmas when prices would be lower.

By shopping at places where goods are normally cheaper or at wholesale suppliers, you can also save a significant amount on party expenses. A good example for bulk purchases would be SAM's Club.  In some cases, shopping online can also result in savings since many online suppliers offer free shipping and may also offer reduced prices as an incentive to purchase.

No matter how big or small your party, a huge cost saver is skipping the paper invites.  You can simply create an event on Facebook and invite your friends.  They will get friendly reminders of when the event is coming up, who else is going, and give you a great idea how many to expect.

There is no need to go broke or to forego your SuperBowl party if you don’t have a huge budget. With some planning and preparation, you can still host an unforgettable party on a shoestring budget.

TL/DR; Three great strategies that you can use to host your party on a limited budget include asking guests to take along food or drinks, shopping for non-perishables early, and purchasing items in bulk at wholesale prices.  Save even more by issuing invitations via email or Facebook!
